Hudson man charged with sexual abuse of 9-year-old

HUDSON - Mohammed Ali, 67, of Hudson, was arrested March 6 in connection with the alleged sexual assault of a 9-year-old, Hudson police said Tuesday.

Detectives interviewed the parents of a juvenile Hudson resident who gave their child’s account of the incident, which occurred in Hudson last summer, according to Hudson police.

Columbia County Assistant District Attorneys Joyce Crawford and Krista Kline, along with staff from the Child Advocacy Center, also obtained information from the alleged victim.

Shortly after 8 p.m. on March 6, Ali was apprehended by Officer Jessica Mausolf on State Street and taken in by Sgt. Nick Hodges.

Ali was charged with seven counts of first-degree sexual abuse, a class D felony; and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, a class A misdemeanor.

Ali was arraigned in Hudson City Court by Judge Brian Herman and sent to the Columbia County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail or bond. He is due to appear in Hudson City Court on Thursday.

On Nov. 14, 2019, Ali was charged in a separate incident with two counts of first-degree rape, a Class B felony; and three counts of first-degree sexual abuse, a class D felony. He was released on his own recognizance the day after arraignment.

After Ali’s Nov. 22 hearing, he was sent to the Columbia County Jail. He posted $20,000 bail later that day and was released.
