PRATTSVILLE — Veterans Day Nov. 11. To all our Veterans, thank you for your service. We will always acknowledge your sacrifices and honor your service to our country.

There will not be a general public observance of Veterans Day at the Gilboa Conesville Central School due to Covid concerns. We are so sorry we could not enjoy their annual program for our veterans. Gilboa School did a wonderful job of recognizing and honoring our veterans. However, the American Legion Virgil E. Deyo Post 1327 and Gilboa Conesville CS are doing a recorded program to honor our veterans.

This is a first time program for us and perhaps will be the beginning of subsequent tapings. With that recording they are working on establishing a “link” with us and the Stratton VAMC to fill the void of no visitors for the hospitalized veterans. With that mode we will be able to interact by videos and audios with the veterans on the 9th floor at the VA. They will be able to see and hear us and that will bring them some joy for the past 20 months of quarantine, which is still ongoing. In this manner, we and the hospitalized veterans can have a form of personal contact.

The American Legion Auxiliary Virgil E. Deyo Unit 1327 monthly meeting will be 7 p.m. Nov. 9 at the Prattsville Town Hall. Auxiliary members are encouraged to show up at 6:15 PM on that date to take part in the “link” with Stratton VA with the American Legion Post 1327. We want our hospitalized veterans to know they are not forgotten even if we can’t visit them in person.

Wow, we are the land of 1,001 Muddy Ponds and we can even go brown water rafting. Can do without more rain and the high muddy waters.

Many can use feel better wishes — Ronnie Cline, Nancy Olson, Donnie Lane and Theresa Gier. Thankfully most on are on the road to recovery.

Mary Cline is trying to make arrangements to bring Ronnie home from rehab. Ronnie, you have to leave those high hanging fruits for the birds or young pickers. Donnie you have to avoid furniture. Nancy and Theresa continue to regain your strength.

Recent visitors were Nancy Kizyma, Diana Jaeger, Marianne Krauss, Shelly Brainard, Mike Meli and Dottie Pickett. They stopped by to help on different projects. Diana and Marianne even brought desserts — spice cake and individual cranberry pies. Check out their baking expertise at the annual Veterans Day Bake Sale 9 a.m.-noon Nov. 6 at Jim’s Great American. All proceeds benefit LOCAL veterans.

Nancy Olson is feeling a lot better thanks to the aide and assistance of daughter Amy and son Tom. Speaking of Tom, his black lab had him out for a walk.

Happy Birthday to Cheyenne Robinson on Nov. 7. Cheyenne is Pam Carr’s granddaughter. On Nov. 8 we wish Devon Gurley Happy Birthday. On Nov. 12 we wish Gregory Hermance and Taris Charysyn Happy Birthday.
