Roosevelt Moore Sr., age 73, of Catskill, died November 10, 2020, at Whittier Rehabilitation in Ghent. Roosevelt was born August 4, 1947 in Tuskegee, Alabama, the son of the late Roosevelt and Gertrude (McMillian) Moore.
Roosevelt moved from Tuskegee to the Bronx in 1968, where he was employed as a cook in a steakhouse. In 1969, Roosevelt moved to Hudson with his wife Annie Scott and son Roosevelt Moore Jr. His daughter Evelyn was born in 1969 in Hudson. In 1970 they moved to Catskill where the son Jeremiah was born in 1971. Roosevelt was employed by American Valve in Coxsackie for 15 years. He spent the rest of his career working as a cook for Columbia-Greene Long-Term Care in Catskill. Roosevelt loved to cook for his family and friends. He loved the Mets and playing cards. He was predeceased by a son Jeremiah (J-Mo) Moore.
Roosevelt is survived by his son, Roosevelt Moore Jr, and two daughters, Evelyn Dennis and Shanita Monique Moore; six grandchildren, Joshua Hotaling, Patrice Welch, Quantaza Lewis, Christopher Welch, Darien Moore, Veronica Mayhew; and 10 great-grandchildren.
There will be a graveside service 10:30 AM Saturday, November 14, at the Town of Catskill Cemetery. Masks and social distancing are required. Flowers and cards may be sent to Traver & McCurry Funeral Home, 234 Jefferson Heights, Catskill, NY 12414.
