Berta Kusminsky, age 94 years, of Cairo, New York, formerly of West Palm Beach, Florida, passed away on May 27, 2021, at home, with her loving son and daughter in law at her side.

She was born on December 10, 1926, in Kathal, Austria, and is the daughter of the late Peter and Mariane Semmler.

Besides her parents, Berta is predeceased by her loving husband Walter, who passed away in 1972, and also by her brother and sister.

During her lifetime, Berta and her husband came to the Palenville area in 1971. Together they ran Walter’s Tavern. Berta was always a very hard worker, working many jobs to support her son whom she loved dearly, including working at The Greene County Memorial Hospital, in Catskill, New York. She nannied for many years for the Chesler Family in Florida who became her second family. Berta spent the summers in New York, after retiring, caring for her grandchildren and for the last few years of her life she loved to spend time with Zoey.

Survivors include her son Peter J. Kusminsky (Judith) of Cairo, New York, and her grandchildren Peter Kusminsky, Jr. (Deanna Martinez) of Chamblee, Georgia, Eric Kusminsky (Danielle) of Coxsackie, grandchildren Lisa Kusminsky of Vestal, New York, Stephen Enck (Amanda) of Catskill, New York, Debbie Enck (Christopher Stanzione) of Athens, New York, and her great granddaughter Zoey Enck.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Richards Funeral Home, 29 Bross Street, Cairo, New York, 12413.

Memorial services will be held on Thursday, June 3, 2021, from 4:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. at Richards Funeral Home, 29 Bross Street, Cairo, New York, 12413.
