CATSKILL — A local eatery closed Wednesday for the second time because a staff member tested positive for COVID-19.

Creekside Catskill announced Wednesday that it would be closed until further notice because a kitchen staff member tested positive for the virus. The employee was last at work Saturday, according to the announcement.

“Unfortunately, we have learned that a member of our kitchen staff has tested positive for COVID,” according to Creekside’s announcement. “The last time the person worked was Saturday evening and they had not developed any symptoms at that point. With careful consideration, we have decided to close for the time being to ensure the health of all our staff and make sure that everything is cleaned and sanitized properly. We are seeking guidance from the Department of Health and will reopen as soon as we know it is safe to do so.”

The restaurant previously closed for two weeks in September due to a positive staff member.

Greene County continued to have the highest positivity rate in the Capital Region on Wednesday, tied with Saratoga County with a 9.8% seven-day average. Since the start of 2021, the Greene County Public Health Department has reported 21 COVID-related deaths or 43% all COVID deaths since the start of the pandemic. The county reported 330 active cases Monday, 15 of which stemmed from the prison and 62 that are linked to adult-care facilities. A total of 434 residents are on quarantine, 28 are hospitalized and 49 have died from the virus.
