VALATIE — Dr. Bill Levering will begin as the new minister at the First Presbyterian Church of Valatie at the 11 a.m. Sunday worship on Feb. 20. Dr. Levering was the Senior Pastor for many years at the First Reformed Church of Schenectady and will now be leading at Valatie. Dr. Levering has taught preaching at Princeton Seminary and has been active on local not-for-profit boards, including chairing the Schenectady County Public Library and Habitat for Humanity boards.

“The Hudson Valley and this church have such a rich history and such a bright future.” Levering said. “I can’t wait to be a part of it.” Levering has degrees from the University of Illinois, Princeton Seminary and Temple University.

“Bill, with his broad experience in and beyond the church, values the traditions of the church, but has an understanding of how to fit that into today’s world,” says Sarah Sayers, church Elder. “We could not be more pleased to have him joining us and look forward to the coming years to grow and thrive under his guidance.”

First Presbyterian Church of Valatie also welcomes Martika VanNess as the new church secretary. VanNess has commercial experience in project management and has a secretarial background serving the First Presbyterian Church of Hudson. Her skills in management and organization coupled with her experience with the Church make her an invaluable asset for FPCV.

Sunday services at the church are safely in person and online at valatie.org and via Facebook Live.
