VALATIE — Ashley Ames scored 11 of her game-high 32 points in the first quarter to get No. 3 Ichabod Crane off to a fast start and the Riders went on to defeat No. 14 Hudson, 69-28, in the first-round of the Section II Class B girls basketball tournament on Saturday.

The Riders advance to play No. 6 Broadalbin-Perth in the quarterfinal round on Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Catskill High School. Broadalbin-Perth advanced with a 56-35 victory over No. 11 Watervliet on Saturday.

With Ames leading the way, Ichabod Crane jumped out to a 15-5 lead by the end of the first quarter. The Riders were up 30-16 at halftime and 50-21 through three quarters.

Carolina Williams added 23 points to the Riders’ cause. Delaney More had 10.

Eighth-grader Malia Jackson led Hudson (10-10) with 16 points. Amya Moore added nine.

Before the game, Riders’ coach Dave Ames presented Ashley Ames with a commemorative ball for recently knocking down her 100th career 3-pointer.

GREENVILLE — Fonda-Fultonville outscored Greenville, 18-4, in the fourth quarter to pull out a 53-45 victory ovr the Spartans in the first-roun d of the Section II Class B girls basketball tournament on Saturday.

No. 5 Greenville led 21-14 after one quarter, 34-27 at halftime and 41-35 after three, before No. 12 Fonda-Fultonvile rallied.

Quincy Lake scored nine of her 25 points during the Braves’ fourth quarter comeback. Kieonna Christmas finished with 12 points.

Aislinn O’Hare led Greenville with 19 points. Emily Smith contributed 15.

SCHENECTADY — Arianna Brandon and Karissa Antoine combined for 37 points as No. 4 Schalmont defeated No. 13 Coxsackie-Athens, 48-25, in Saturday’s first-round game in the Section II Class B girls basketbll tournament.

Brandon finished with a game-high 22 points for the Sabres. Antoine added 15.

Riley Sitcer scored 19 points for Coxsackie-Athens.

HOOSICK FALLS — Hoosick Falls overcame a slow stat to defeat Chatham, 34-27, in Friday’s Section II Class CC girls basketball tournament game.

No. 6 Hoosick Falls trailed 5-1 after one quarter, but surged ahead, 11-9, by halftime. Chatham fought back to take a 19-15 lead after three, but a 19-8 fourth-quarter run by Hoosick Falls sealed the deal.

Emma Waugh led Hoosick Falls with 10 points.Mackenna Roberson, Taegyn Hart and Tatum Hickey each had seven.

Kendall Hayes had 12 points for Chatham. Grace Brennan chipped in with six.
