To the editor:

In this election, voters in the 43rd Senate District have an easy choice to elect Patrick Nelson, an independent voice for Upstate New York who will fight for quality health care for every New Yorker, an economy that puts working people first and to find common sense solutions to our everyday problems without succumbing to party politics. Nelson, a scientist by training and an organizer and public servant by trade, is committed to fiscally responsible government that serves all the people of the 43rd which includes all of Columbia County and parts of Rensselaer, Saratoga and Washington.

Nelson looks forward to debating the current senator Daphne Jordan in the Saratoga County League of Women Voters Debates, and has suggested holding a debate in each county. Jordan on the other hand, is ducking the debate and her campaign is refusing to comment. Jordan’s anti-environment, anti-voter rights, and anti-workplace protections voting record doesn’t protect and serve the residents of the 43rd. Jordan has also failed to provide voters with positions on key issues covered by the 2020 Political Courage Test, despite repeated requests from Vote Smart. It’s no wonder she doesn’t want to show up to a debate.

Nelson on the other hand, is holding Virtual Town Halls every other Wednesday in October so you can hear his positions on the issues. Get involved. Register for the event at nelsonforny.com.

A vote for Nelson is a vote for our future.
