HUDSON — Grace Mathes scored in the first overtime period to give Coxsackie-athens a 2-1 victory over Hudson in Wednesday’s Patroon Conference girls soccer game.

After a Choudmaya Box goal gave Hudson a 1-0 lead, C-A drew even on a goal by Hannah Crown. The game remained tied at the end of regulation, beofre Mathese tallied her game-winner.

Schyler Caringi didn’t make a save in goal for the Indians. Hudson’s Melena Jeune turned away 16 shots.

Hudson hosts Taconic Hills on Friday at 6 p.m. and Coxsackie-Athens goes to Catskill on Saturday at 10 a.m.

Taconic Hills 1, Catskill 0

CRARYVILLE — On a beautiful Wednesday evening at Taconic Hills, the Titans earned a 1-0 Patroon Conference victory over Catskill.

The Cats and the Titans had a scoreless battle for nearly 45 minutes of play until Taconic Hills’ Clare Howard broke free from Catskill’s back line on a beautiful pass from Tatyana Hoffman and scored.

Taconic Hills withheld a fury of Catskill attacks for the last 25 minutes of play, including a rocket that smashed against the crossbar. The Titan’s defense held that score line until the end of the match and won 1-0.

Taconic Hills visits Hudson on Friday at 6 p.m., while Catskill entertains Coxsackie-Athens on Saturday at 10 a.m.



Hudson 1, Coxsackie-Athens 0

COXSACKIE — Hudson traveled to Coxsackie-Athens Wednesday night in a game where both teams were looking to strengthen their chances of the Patroon playoffs with a win.

Hudson came away with a 1-0 victory to improve to 2-2-1. Coxsackie-Athens falls to 2-2-2.

The Indians came out strong and played well, creating chances and putting pressure on Hudson’s back four. The game was controlled by C-A, but the Hudson defense never broke.

In the final 6 minutes of the game, Hudson’s Zakhariah Chowdhury sent a ball into the box that was cleaned up by a charging freshman Yahir Velasco for the lone goal and Hudson won, 1-0.

C-A outshot Hudson 15-5, and had a 6-2 advantage on corner kicks.

Hudson goalkeeper Kasey Moore stopped five shots. C-A keeper Spencer Tergeoglou collected three saves.

Greenville 7, Chatham 0

CHATHAM — Greenville took the long drive to play Chatham under the lights and won, 7-0, in Patroon Conference boys soccer action on Wednesday.

Ben Reinhard had two goals for Greenville: Jack Motta, Vinny Davis, Cole Flannery, James Mitchell and DJ Gardner each had one.

Providing the assists for the goals were Miles Weiss, Motta, Reinhard and Liam Bowden.

Greenville is now 6-0 and hosts Maple Hill on Saturday at 10 a.m.Chatham hosts Cairo-Durham on Friday at 4:15 p.m.

Catskill 2, Taconic Hills 1

CATSKILL — Taconic Hills visited Catskill for what would turn out to be yet another close Patroon Conference boys soccer game, with the Cats earning a 2-1 victory.

Taconic Hills struck first when two Catskill defenders failed to clear a ball that was picked up by Kobe VanAlstyne who tucked it past the keeper for a 1-0 lead 10 minutes in.

Catskill was able to keep the ball on the Taconic Hills half for long periods, but couldn’t find the equalizer until 35 minutes had been played. Eddie Rogers picked up the ball 25 yards out and fired a nice shot out of reach of the keeper to make it 1-1 at the half.

The second half saw more even play as Taconic Hills found better midfield play and a scoreless battle ensued until time expired. 7:35 into the first OT Devin Fitzmaurice played a great ball to Danny Forbes who got enough on his shot to get it past the keeper and end a hard fought game for the 2-1 Cats win.

Catskill had the edge in shots, 12-6, and the Titans had the edge on corners 3-2.

Catskill visits Coxsackie-Athens and Taconic Hills hosts Hudson on Friday at 6 p.m.
