VALATIE — Ichabod Crane defeated Ravena in five sets by scores 25-28, 23-25, 25-14, 24-26 and 25-17 in Monday's Colonial Council girls volleyball action.

The win is the Riders sixth in a row after dropping the first match of the season to Holy Names in five sets. It’s the fourth time in seven games that the RIders had to go the distance.

“I don’t know what it is about this team winding up in five set matches,” Ichabod Crane coach Adam Vooris said. “I’m just glad they are getting to play a lot of volleyball.”

Emma Scheitinger had 5 Aces and 22 Kills for Ichabod Crane. Piper De Kraai had 5 Aces. Delaney More had 4 Aces, 6 Kills and 19 Assists.

“Emma has been leading our attack all season,” Vooris said. “The setters are feeding her that ball really well and she is putting them away.”

Playing opposite Scheitinger is Senior Darby Siver. Siver had 9 Kills on the night. The two of them together have combined for 160 Kills through 7 Games.

Next up for ICC is a home match on Wednesday vs Voorheesville.


Germantown 2, Heatly 0

GREEN ISLAND — The Germantown girls varsity soccer team earned a 2-0 Central Hudson Valley League road win at Heatly Friday afternoon.

The Clippers out-possessed their opponents for most of the game and outshot the home-standing Hornets 27-8.

Junior striker Ryane Andersson scored midway through the first half off of a feed by senior midfielder Riley Gibbons. Just over ten minutes into the second session, senior stopper Tori Decker one-timed a corner-kick cross from Gibbons for Germantown’s second goal.

Senior goalkeeper Kate Stagno turned away all eight shots she faced for her second clean sheet of the season.


Taconic Hills 5, ICC 1

CRARYVILLE — Taconic Hills earned ts third win of the season on Monday, defeating Ichabod Crane, 5-1, in a non-league field hckey match.

Jennie Beck scored the Titans first goal with 7:39 to go in the first period off an assist from Madalyn Shook. Brianna Shetsky made it 2-0 in the opening stanza, scoring off an assist from Rylee Jause with 1:29 to go.

Beck scored her second goal with 8:25 left in the third quarter, before Marilyn Roque closed out the Titas’ scring with a pair of unassisted goal in the fourth quarter.

Emma stigi tallied the Riders’ only goal with 12:18 to go in the contest.

Taconic Hills had 38 shots on goal and 19 penalty corners. Ichabod Crane had four shots and two penalty corners.

Titans’ goaltender Sydney Kiernan had three saves. Ichabod Crane’s Carolyn White stopped 26 shots.

Pine Plains 4, C-A 0

PINE PLAINS — Pine Plains won its second match of the season without a loss on Monday as the Bombers blanked Coxsackie-Athen 4-0, in Mid-Hudson Athletic League field hockey action.

Pine Plains’ Autumn Prezzano scored 2:45 into the first quarter with Katie Lutz assisting. Near the end of the first Qtr Arely Soria ripped a shot at the top of the circle into goal, making it 2-0.

Arely then connected two more times from assists by Ashlee Conley in the third quarter.

The Bombers has 18 shots on goal and seven corners.

Goalie Alyssa Bathrick from Pine Plains made 5 saves to preserve the shutout.

Coxsackie-Athens had two corners and five shots on goal.

C-A goaltender Arianna Colon made 14 saves.

Pine Plains moves to 2-0, while Coxsackie-Athend drops to 0-2-1.
