VALATIE — Ichabod Crane defeated Mohonasen 3-0 by set scores of 25-14, 25-15 and 25-22 in Wednesday’s Colonial Council girls volleyball match.

ICC had a strong defensive effort totaling 33 digs as a team.

“We were really well balanced as a team today,” Ichabod Crane coach Adam Vooris said. “It all started with great first touches on serve receive and defensively.”

Leading the way was Emma Scheitinger who had 9 Kills and 8 Digs. Setters Clare Knapp and Delaney More each had 9 Assists while More and Maddie Kelley had 5 kills apiece.

Seniors Piper DeKraai and Ashleigh Gerkman set the tone in serve receive with their first touches.

“We have the luxury of having 2 very talented Liberos,” Vooris said. “They both have their individual strengths, but together they are a very good combination.”

Ichabod Crane 5, Mohonasen 1

VALATIE — Hector Loyola scored two goals to lead Ichabod Crane to a 5-1 victory over Mohonasen in Colonial Council boys soccer action on Wednesday.

Alex Sweeney, Brian Bravo and Joe Desmonie all had a goal for the Riders. Bravo, Luke Desmonie and Chase Martino each had an assist.

Justin Andriola scored Mohonasen’s only goal

Riders’ goalkeeper Luke Desmonie stopped 12 shots. Mohonasen’s Tim Lopez collected seven saves.

Ichabod Crane improves to 2-0 and will face Columbia on Saturday in a non-league game.

Vinny Marasco added a 48 to Chatham’s cause.

Jordan Cody’s 52 topped Cairo-Durham.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

Taconic Hills 3, Hudson 1

HUDSON — Taconic Hills overcame a loss n the the first set to defeat Hudson, 3-1, in Patroon Conference girls volleyball action on Wednesday.

Hudson took the first set, 25-15, but the Titans came back to win the next three, 25-20, 25-23 and 25-21.

Leaders for TH were Kersten Keeler with 6 aces and 6 kills, Avery Byrne with 5 kills and 4 aces, and Izzabell Bosko with 6 assists and 5 digs.
