VALATIE — Joe Penzabene completed 8 of 9 passes for 116 yards and two touchdowns to lead Ichabod Crane to a 36-6 victory over Cohoes in Friday’s Week 0 game.

Week 0 games are considered preseason games and do not count in the league standings or for playoff seedings.

Austin Race had three receptions for 82 yards and Bradley Duso had four receptions for 32 yards and a TD for Ichabod Crane.

Zion Evans led the Riders ground attack with 91 yards and TD on 10 carries. Joe Penzabene added 54 yards and two TDs on six carries.

Defensively, Austin Race had six tackles. Connor Booth had five tackles and one sack, Ryan Putnam had five tackles and Thomas Cooper had five tackles.

Ichabod Crane visits Hudson on Friday at 7 p.m.

Schuylerville 45, Hudson 0

SCHUYLERVILLE — Quarterback Owen Sherman accounted for three touchdowns in Schuylerville’s 45-0 Week 0 victory over Hudson on Friday.

Sherman completed 7 of 8 asses for 128 yards and two touchdowns and ran for another score.

Ryan Down, Landen Cumm and Lukas Sherman also had rushing touchdowns for the Black Horses.

Hudson hosts Ichabod Crane in its regular season opener on Friday at 7 p.m.

Warrensburg 56, CCD 8

WARRENSBURG — Dylan Winchell returned a kickoff 83 yards for a touchdown and caught 2 TD passes as Warrensburg defeated Catskill/Cairo-Durham, 56-8, in Saturday’s Week 0 football game.

Tim Kelly had two touchdowns for the Burghers. Caleb Remington, Zach Olden and Tristen Hitchcock also scored for Warrensburg.

Catkill/Cairo-Durham’s regular season opener scheduled for Saturday agaist Coxsackie-Athens has been postponed. The Mustangs will now open the regular season on Sept. 18 at Voorheesville.

Coxsackie-Athens 9, Taconic Hills 0

COXSACKIE — Coxsackie-Athens started the season strong Friday night with a win over Patroon Conference rival Taconic Hills. The Blue and White came out strong and finished strong with a 9-0 win.

Geddy Williams had a hat trick, Ryan Maurer had two goals, Robbie Hughes, Joe Perino, Nick Agovino, and Brandon Morehouse each had one.

C-A travels to Watervliet on Tuesday at 7 p.m., while Taconic Hills hosts Greenville on Tuesday at 4 p.m.

GIRLS SOCCER

Coxsackie-Athens 2, Taconic Hills 0

CRARYVILLE — Coxsackie-Athens scored two goals in the first half and went on to post a 2-0 victory over Taconic Hills in Friday’s PAtroon Conference girls soccer action.

Titans keeper Mikayla Silvernail had a solid game between the pipes with eight saves and the C-A keeper made six saves to keep the clean sheet for C-A.

Mackenzie Wolbert scored C-A’s first goal off an assist from Natalie Hinrichsen. Molly Bartels added an insurance goal with an assist from Isabella Luvera.

C-A visits Hoosick Falls on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. and Taconic Hills goes to Greenville on Tuesday at 4:15 p.m.

CHATHAM — Chathm took four of five singles matches and held on to edge Coxsackie-Athens, 4-3, in Patroon Conference girls tennis action on Friday.
