VALATIE — Kyle Bartlett pitched a complete game, scattering six hits and striking out 11 as No. 4 Ichabod Crane defeated No. 13 Hudson, 3-1, in Wednesday’s first-round game in the Section II Class B Baseball Tournament.

Ichabod Crane advances to the quarterfinal round and will host Tamarac on Friday at 4 p.m. Hudson finishes the season with a 6-9 overall record.

The Riders (13-7) plated their first run in the first inning when Brady Holzhauer walked and came around to score on Bartlett’s double to center field. They added another un in the third on a solo homer to left by Jack Mullins, then tacked one one more in the fourth when Dylan McCrudden singled, was sacrificed to second by Wyatt Dolge, stole third and scored on Alex Schmidt’s single.

Hudson remained scoreless until putting together a rally in the seventh. Kameron Duntz led off the inning with a walk and Brian Curran singled to bring the tying run to the plate with no outs. Bartlett settled down, though and induced a 4-6-3 doubled play to put the Riders one out from victory. Collin Keator ripped an RBI single, but Bartlett got the final out on a grounder to second to send Ichabod Crane on to the next round.

Mullins’ home run and Bartlett’s double were the only extra base hits for the Riders. Schmidt had an RBI single and McCrudden and Nate Garafalo singled.

Gannon Logue doubled for Hudson. Keator had an RBI single and Curran, Ashton Hotaling, Eli Conte and Will Savulich all singled.

Hotaling pitched well in defeat, allowing five hits and three runs with six strikeouts and four walks.

Tamarac 12

Taconic Hills 10

CRARYVILLE — Tamarac built a seven-run lead, then held off a late Taconic Hills rally to earn a 12-10 victory in the first round of the Section II Class B Baseball Tournament on Wednesday.

No. 5 seed Taconic Hills jumped out to an early 4-2 lead, but No. 12 Tamarac put up a five-spot in te fourth to take the lead for good. The Bengals were 8-5 when they plated four runs in the top of the seventh to widen the gap to 12-5.

Taconic Hills refused to go quietly and mounted a rally in the bottom half of the seventh. Gavin Hartka and Tyler Peck drew walks an Jacob Alvarez singled to load the bases. Down seven with two outs, Kobe Van Alstyne stpped in and drilled a two-run double. Zach Rowe followed with a two-run double of his own to cut the deficit to 12-9. After Aaron Bonci and Brandon Rossano walked, a balk by Tamarac reliever James Blake with the bases loaded, made it 12-10. Blake finally stopped the rally, by inducing the next batter to ground out to end the game.

Troy Super got the Titans off to a good start with a grand slam in the first inning. Rowe went 4 for 5 with a double and two RBI, Van Alstyne added a double and single with two RBI, Hartka had two singles, Alvarez and Bonci both singled and Peck drove in a run.

Tyler Sears ripped a double and single with an RBI for Tamarac. Peyton Richardson had three singles and three RBI and Liam Ring collected three singles and two RBI.

Richardson, Ring and Blake all pitched for the Bengals, allowing 10 runs and 11 hits with four strikeouts and 11 walks.

Rossano struck out eight, walked three and allowed eight runs (one earned) and 10 hit in 5 2/3 inings on the mound for Taconic Hills. Super struck out two, walked six and gave up four runs and two hits in 1 1/3 innings of relief.

Tamarac advances to the quarterfinals and will visit No. 4 Ichabod Crane on Friday at 4 p.m.

Catskill 0

CATSKILL — Justin Trudeau fired a one-hit shutout with 12 strikeouts to spark No. 11 Cohoes to a 3-0 victory over No. 6 Catskill in the first round of the Section II Class B Baseball Tournament on Wednesday at Ricky Cramer Field.

Trudeau helped his own cause with a triple and single. Nick Chicaway added two singles and an RBI.

Cullen Fulling singled for Catskill’s only hit.

Fulling went the distance on the mound for the Cats, allowing three runs and seven hits with five strikeouts and three walks.

Cohoes moves on to play at No. 3 Coxsackie-Athens on Friday at 4 p.m.

Maple Hill 12

CASTLETON — Griffin Reardon ripped a home run and single with three RBI as Chatham defeated Maple Hill, 14-12, in Wednesday’s Patroon Conference junior varsity baseball game.

Jacob Carroll tripled and singled for Chatham (13-4). Cooper Steltz doubled and singled with an RBI, Thomas Pierro doubled and drove in two runs, Hunter Kelly collected three singles and an RBI, Brody Casivant had two singles and three RBI, Brayden Steltz contributed two singles and an RBI and Colton Hutson and Owen Wilbur singled.

Reardon (7k,2bb,2r), Carroll (2bb,7r,6h) and Kiah Pinto (6k,4bb,3r,1h) pitched for Chatham.
