CHATHAM — Abby Taylor had 19 points and Jahnyah Armstrong contributed 11 as Chatham defeated Rensselaer, 53-35, on Tuesday.

Erin Madsen added nine points for the Panthers.

“I thought our pressure wore them down,” Chatham coach John Roloson said. “Offensively, the girls did a get job moving the ball in the second half which led to some good looks for our shooters.”

Chatham (1-1) travels to Watervliet on Friday at 5 p.m.

SCHENECTADY — Carolina Williams scored 15 points to lead Ichabod Crane past Mohonasen, 52-7, in Tuesday’s Colonial Council girls basketball game.

Delaney More had 10 points and five rebounds for the Riders. Emma Holmberg added eight points, Alexa Barkley had six points and eight rebounds (four offensive), Abby Dolge five points and seven assists, Ashley Ames four points and Julia Rivers and Rylee Dunn two points apiece.

“I’m very pleased with our intensity and how we got after it on defense from the start,” Ichabod Crane coach Dave Ames said. “Our girls played a tough, physical game.”

ICC (2-0) hosts Catskill on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.

Rensselaer 31

RENSSELAER — Matt Thorsen scored 17 points and Kyle Jackson had 11 in Chatham’s 62-31 victory over Rensselaer on Tuesday.

Tobias Jeralds had eight points as Chatham improved to 1-1 in the Patroon and 2-1 overall.

The Panthers built quarterly leads of 16-8, 34-15 and 55-25.

“I was pleased with our effort from the beginning,” Chatham coach Jb Brantley said. “It was good to see the guys execute on both ends! We will get back to work tomorrow as we prepare for a tough matchup Friday at home vs. Watervliet.”
