VALATIE — The Ichabod Crane girls tennis team is seeking its fourth straight Section 2 Class B title and has secured the number one seed for the postseason tournament.
The Riders earned the number one seed with a perfect regular season record of 13-0 with both Samantha Lantzy and Maya Brennan also finishing the regular season undefeated. Additionally, the team claimed their third consecutive Colonial Council championship; including wins over Class A schools Holy Names, Albany Academy, Catholic Central and Emma Willard.
Coach Megan Yeats’ team includes: No. 1 Singles — Elise Brennan (Senior), No. 2 Singles — Gia Sandagato (Junior), No. 3 Singles — Samantha Lantzy (Sophomore), No. 4 Singles — Maya Brennan (Sophomore), No. 5 Singles — Zoe Gieger (Junior) and Doubles Players — Shannon Ingham (Senior), Reese Slade (Sophomore), Amara Gabriel (freshman), Amelia Elghannani (eighth grade), Nadia Elghannani (eighth grade), Payge Cook (seventh grade) and Elizabeth Spensieri (seventh grade).
The Riders received a first round bye and will host the winner of Ravena and Voorheesville on Tuesday at 3 p.m. in the Class B semifinals.
Patroon Conference champion Greenville is the No. 2 seed in Class B and will host No. 3 seed Coxsackie-Athens on Tuesday at 3 p.m.
The Class B championship match is slated for Wednesday at 3 p.m. at a site to be determined.
