Tim Martin/Columbia-Greene Media Hudson’s Isaiah Maines worked his way into the varsity basketball team’s starting lineup as a sophomore and quickly proved he is one of the top young players in the Patroon Conference.

Q: How did you fall in love with your sport?

A: I fell in love with basketball because of the joy I get when playing it and being able to play with my friends. I also love that the game is fast paced.

Q: What’s your favorite moment as an athlete in that sport?

A: My favorite moment in basketball is when I am able to block an opponent off of the backboard.

Q: What is your favorite sports moment as a fan?

A: My favorite moment as a sports fan was watching the game-winning shot Kyrie (Irving) hit in Game 7 of the 2016 NBA Finals.

Q: What athlete do you look up to the most and why?

A: LeBron James is an athlete I look up to because no matter what he always gives his all in evry game he plays in. LeBron also gives back to his community and is outspoken about societal injustices.

Q: Best advice you’ve received from a coach, mentor or teammate in your sport?

A: The best advice I have been given was from my coach and mentor, Isiah Heard, who told me to never be satisfied with what you have and to keep pushing.
