For the Love of Sports: Hudson’s Deja Beauford

Tim Martin/Columbia-Greene Media After earning Patroon Conference girls basketball MVP honors as a junior and First-Team All-Star status as a senior, Hudson’s Deja Beauford will be taking her talents to SUNY Plattsburgh in the Fall.

Q: How did you fall in love with your sport?

A: When I was younger I used to play street ball with my brothers and his friends, it was really fun so I tried to take it serious but I didn’t really start to fall in love with it until I got to Hudson, basketball acted like therapy for me,one where i didn’t have to speak, that’s honestly how I fell in love with it.

Q: What’s your favorite moment as an athlete in that sport?

A: My favorite moment as an athlete was playing really intense games, it’s what made it fun for me!(honestly the most intense games I played were at gym rat)

Q: What is your favorite sports moment as a fan?

A: My favorite sports moment as a fan would have to be when I got to see UConn play in Albany.

Q: What athlete do you look up to the most and why?

A: I look up to Lebron James because he has a never give up mentality and he came up from nothing!

Q: Best advice you’ve received from a coach, mentor or teammate in your sport?

A: Play your game.
