LANSINGBURGH — The Columbia Clippers 11U built a five-run lead, then held off a late rally by the NE Hurricanes to post a 6-4 victory and win the June Madness Tournament championship on Monday.
The Clippers won four games in three days in claiming the title, beating the TC Bombers Blue, 20-3; the CP Plainsmen, 9-8; and the MV Vipers, 10-9.
Clippers 6, Hurricanes 4
Brayden Jause had two singles and an RBI and was the winning pitcher to spark the Clippers in Monday’s title game. Gannon Logue added a double and two RBI, Averly ackerly had two singles, Jacob Alvarez a single and an RBI and Ryan Conte, Tristan Super and Eli Conte a single each.
Jause pitched the first four innings, striking out four, walking two and allowing one run and three hits. Kameron Duntz struck out one, walked one and allowed three runs and two hits and Super struck out two and walked one in one inning.
Clippers 20, TC Bombers Blue 3
The Clippers scored 14 runs in the opening inning and cruised to an openng round victory over the TC Bombers Blue on Friday.
Avery Ackerly led the Clippers with two doubles, a single and an RBI. Jacob Alvarez had a double and two singles with three RBI, Gannon Logue a double and single with two RBI, Brayden Jause two singles and two RBI, Trevor Van Allen two singles and an RBI, Kameron Duntz a single and three RBI, Dante Troy a single and two RBI, Ryan Conte a single and Eli Conte an RBI.
Logue started and pitched one inning for the Clippers, striking out two and walking one. Van Allen threw three innings, allowing three runs and three hits with five strikeouts and four walks.
Clippers 9, CP Plainsmen 8
The Clippers built a 9-0 lead, then held on as the CP Plainsmen rallied before falling, 9-8, on Saturday.
Tristan Super and Eli Conte each had a single and two RBI for the Clippers. Jacob Alvarez, Gannon Logue and Brayden Jause all had a single and an RBI and Avery Ackerly singled.
Super struck out five, walked three and surrendered one run andd three hits for the Clippers. Logue finished up, striking out four, walking three and allowing seven runs and five hits.
Clippers 10, MV Vipers 9
Avery Ackerly collected three singles and two RBI to highlight the Clippers’ 10-9 victory over the MV Vipers on Saturday.
The Vipers had rallied to take a 9-8 lead in the top of the sixth inning, but the Clippers answered with two of their own in the home half of the frame and held on for the victory.
Tristan Super had a single and two RBI for the Clippers. Jacob Alvarez drove in two runs and Kameron Duntz and Trevor Van Allen each had an RBI.
Ryan Conte pitched four innings for the Clippers, allowing seven runs and 11 hits with four strikeouts and one walk. Brayden Jause pitched the final three innings, striking out four, walking one and allowing two runs and three hits.
