CRARYVILLE — The Greenville Spartans paid the Titans of Taconic Hills a visit Friday night and left with a blowout victory in their Patroon Conference matchup, 87-32.

Greenville’s Damien Fiducia led the way with 19 points through only three quarters of play. This one was close through one quarter with the Titans trailing 12-9 after the first.

Both teams did take a while to settle into their play styles, and it was only a seven point game with 3:45 left in the first half. However, by the time that 3:45 was down to zero, the Spartans doubled their lead and went into halftime winning by 14.

As the second half started, Greenville went on an 11-2 run which forced a timeout by Taconic Hills at 5:28. The Titans could not regroup after this short break, and were outscored 28-2 in the third quarter.

The Spartans took this 40-point lead into the fourth period and showed no signs of slowing down. Their defense continued to press the Titans’ possessions and force bad passes to intercept and get easy buckets.

From inbound passes, in the post, and around the perimeter, Taconic Hills was being overrun and outclassed. With time left on the clock for one possession, Greenville finally showed some restraint and decided to just dribble out the clock.

At the end of the cold, rainy night, the Spartans headed back to the buses with their fifth straight victory and a weekend off.

Damien Fiducia’ 19 points led the Spartans (4-0, 5-0). Jackson Makely added 11 and Miles Weiss had 10, all in the fourth quarter.

Zach Colwell led Taconic Hills with eight points.
