HUDSON — Hudson overcame a slow start to defeat Coxsackie-Athens, 60-44, in Friday’s Patroon Conference boys basketball game.

The Bluehawks trailed 10-6 after one quarter ad 22-18 at halftime before going on to outscore the Riverhawks, 42-22 over the final two quarters to improve to 5-0 in league play.

Isaiah Maines led Hudson with 30 points. Jordan Cunningham and Connor Tomaso both had 10.

Dillon Hynes had a big game for C-A, scoring 29 of the Riverhawks’ 44 points.

COXSACKIE-ATHENS (44): Hughes 2-0-4, Maurer 0-1-1, O’Connor 1-0-2, Williams 2-0-4, 13-3-29, King 1-0-2, Carey 1-0-2. Totals 20-4-44.

Catskill 71, Maple Hill 64

CATSKILL — Catskill won its fourth straight game on Friday, defeating Maple Hill, 71-64, in Patroon Conference boys basketball action.

“It was a hard-fought game,” Catskill coach Andy Gonzalez said. “My guys played hard, full-court man-to-man the whole game and we felt like we got them a little tired. They made a run a the end, but our guys stepped up to the plate, got some quick buckets and, most importantly, we knocked down our free throws, especially down the stretch. We made 14 of 16 free throws, which is a big improvement for us.”

Jacob Devlin had 18 points for the Cats. Sean Haye added 15, Eddie Rogers had 13, Patrick Darling 11, Azar Brantley eight, Kellen Gibbs four and Lucas Konsul two.

Catskill (4-1 Patroon) travels to Rensselaer on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.

Rensselaer 58, TH 57

CRARYVILLE — Rensselaer edged Taconic Hills, 58-57, in Friday’s Patroon Conference boys basketball game.

Taconic Hills pulled away from a 9-9 first quarter tie to take a 31-25 lead at halftime. Rensselaer battled back to within 45-44 through three quarters, then outscored the Titans, 14-12, over the final eight minutes to pull out the victory.

Xavier Baker topped the Rams with 17 points.

Neil Howard III poured in 28 points for the Titans. Zach Rowe and Kobe Van Alstyne both had eight.

Taconic Hills goes to Maple Hill on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.

TROY — Watervliet built a 22-point lead by halftime and rolled to a 75-39 victory over Greenville in Patroon Conference boys basketball action on Friday.

The Cannoneers were up 15-9 after one quarter 37-15 at the half and 58-27 through three.

Brett Burke led Watervliet’s balanced attack with 15 points. Amel Conway had 14, Jay Chaplin 12 and Adonis Cyrus and Malik Simms 11 apiece.

Jack Motta and Cody Thompson both had 10 points for the Spartans.

Greenville (2-3 Patroon) goes to Chatham on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.

TROY — Eighth-graders Seimir Roberson and Darien Moore Jr. combined for 42 points to spark Catholic Central to an 80-54 victory over Ichabod Crane in Friday’s Colonial Council boys basketball game.

Roberson finished with 22 points and Moore added 20 for the Crusaders, who 16-14, 25-23 and 55-33 at the end of the first three quarters.

Brett Richards had a game-high 30 points for the Riders. Dylan Colwell chipped in with 13.

TROY — Canajoharie posted a 56-48 victory over Greenville in Saturday’s Coaches vs. Cancer boys basketball game at Hudson Valley Community College.

The Cougars jumped out to a 13-9 after one quarter and widened the gap to 37-28 at halftime. Greenville pulled to within 46-43 by the end of the third quarter, but Canajoharie put the game away with a 10-5 run in the final stanza.

Aundray Fowler’s 17 points topped Canajoharie.

Trey Smith led Greenville with 18 points. Peyton Gergen had 10.

The Scotties led 17-15 after one quarter, 38-27 at halftime and 52-40 after three.

Isaiah Maines was Hudson’s top scorer with 28 points. Jordan Cunningham added 12.

Hudson (5-1) hosts Lansingburgh in a non-league game on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.

TROY — Alex Schmidt scored 26 points and Brett Richards added a double-double with 22 points and 12 rebounds to lead Ichabod Crane to an 80-62 victory over Taconic Hills in Sunday’s Coaches vs. Cancer game at Hudson Valley Community College.

Dylan Colwell had 10 points for the Riders, who built quarterly leads of 16-11, 37-30 and 59-46.

Four players were in double digits for Taconic Hills, led by Zach Rowe’s 15 points, Troy Super had 14, Kobe Van Alstyne 13 and Charlie Beck 10.

Ichabod Crane visits La Salle on Tuesday at 7 p.m. and Taconic Hills goes to Maple Hill on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.
