CRARYVILLE — Mid-Hudson Athletic League field hockey Most Valuable Player Delana Bonci of Taconic Hills signed a letter of intent to continue her academic and athletic career at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute on Monday.
Bonci, a four-year varsity player and team captain, tallied 15 goals this year and assisted on 14 others. For her career, she scored 45 goals and collected 45 assists.
Along with being the 2019 MHL MVP, Bonci was the Titans’ two-time MVP and a first-team MHAL All-Star in 2018 and 2017.
“Delana has tremendous knowledge of the game and excellent decision making skills under pressure,” Taconic Hills field hockey coach Angela Webster said. “Her love of the game is evident due to the amount of work and effort that she puts into each season.
“It has been a pleasure to coach, Delana, a player that is eager to learn and work hard at achieving her goals. I have no doubt that she will be successful as a student and athlete at RPI. You have made TH proud.”
Paula Voight-Jause, the varsity girls track and field coach at TH, also had words of praise for Bonci.
“Delana’s work ethic and focus, applied to the mastery of any activity, has made her a successful competitor,” Voight-Jause said. “She is an extremely coachable, hard working and strong athlete who I believe will be a valuable asset to the RPI program.”
