To the editor:

The Chatham Silent Pantry and Ghent and Valatie Food Pantries would like to thank the community for their support and assistance in hosting the first ever in Columbia County, drive-thru food distribution, held at the Chatham Fairgrounds on May 26. 425 households made up of 1.365 people in total, drove through and picked up a bag of food, a box or two of fresh produce, and a watermelon. The Regional Foodbank in partnership with Catholic Charities sponsored this great event.

Special thanks to Mayor John Howe for facilitating the logistics, Mary Kay Minahan from Catholic Charities for her networking, and Pete Minahan, Angelo Nero of the Chatham Fairgrounds Board, the county Sheriff’s Department, the Chatham Police and Fire Company, Tri-Village Fire Company, Columbia County Outhouses, the Chatham Village Board and the Ghent Fire Company and all those in the community who helped get the word out.
