To the editor:

Today I write to encourage your readers to vote — absentee, early, on Election Day, 11.3.2020. Our future depends on the outcome. I ask that you VOTE for an experienced activist who knows our region, is well informed and educated, and is a great advocate — Michelle Hinchey — NY Senate, District 46.

Those of us who are residents of Greene County share a variety of concerns. Healthcare, economic opportunity and job growth, infrastructure, farming supports, and, especially, public safety. Just recently, Michelle Hinchey attracted the support and endorsement of two District 46 Law Enforcement Leaders — Sheriff Craig Apple of Albany County and Ulster County’s Sheriff Juan Figueroa. These two lead officials joined with the PBA of NY State and the FDNY among others, in announcing their support of her candidacy. Like us, these folks understand the need for a Senator willing to bridge the divide that exists in New York State. Michelle Hinchey has expressed her commitment to work with stakeholders in the community to improve the ties and the relationships that exist between community needs and law enforcement. She has proven that she supports innovative community programs that strengthen community outreach and expand help to those suffering from opioid addiction as well. Equal treatment and equal justice are one in the same.

I ask your readers to join with me and many others in voting for Michelle. She is working to be a partner with local leaders and advocates to ensure that we are better attending to our underserved communities and meeting their needs.
