To the editor:
Taconic Hills has three candidates for school board on the ballot for one open seat. Of the three only two are from this area, and are familiar with the school and its students. However one candidate has the purest and most honest of intentions in her candidacy and that is Lynn Brandt.
I’ve known Lynn for over 35 years and she’s always been committed to her community. She has lived in the Town of Claverack her entire life. She’s volunteered in the community since we were teenagers. She still serves her community as an active firefighter and a Dispatcher.
Lynn is involved within the school. She regularly attends TH Board meetings and works to keep the community and parents informed. She’s reached out to school officials fighting for a proper graduation for our class of 2020.
Recently someone wrote that “nativist comments on social media equate legacy as a reason to vote for a candidate”, and that their new to the area candidate is “best to serve the need of the community and taxpayers”. Having long time roots and ties to a community/school is the best reason to vote for a candidate. Who better to know the needs of the community, taxpayers and our children than someone who has spent their whole life in this very community and serving it?
So I ask that when you receive your ballot in the mail, vote for Lynn Brandt!
