To the editor:

I am writing this letter in support of Destiny Hallenbeck for Chatham Town Council. I feel as though most often we hear stories about younger siblings looking up to their older siblings, but I have the great honor of my younger sister, Destiny Hallenbeck, to look up to.

Destiny has always been a model citizen, even dating back to her Junior National Honor Society induction, and she has carried that through with her into adulthood. She has amazing patriotism for our country and beautiful New York, where we both grew up. She channels that deep respect and appreciation into her every day life, by acknowledging where we have been and looking ahead to the great potential we still have ahead of us. Never in my life have I ever met someone before who embodies the ability to make change through sheer will the way Destiny does.

Destiny’s love for the place we grew up is unrivaled. She cares about the local community and she demonstrates it through her strong advocacy, and she is one of the most well-informed people I’ve met. Compassion and passion are so deeply embedded in her nature. Destiny gives her all to her community, and there is no one who I can give a stronger recommendation for than her.

Destiny Hallenbeck, graduated from Chatham High School and will graduate from Union College this spring. Energetic and focused, she promises to prioritize housing, broadband, and options to address poverty and food insecurity.
