To the editor:

Dan Horst is my neighbor, I’m happy to say. The traits that make one a good neighbor — trustworthiness, decency, selflessness, a willingness to lend a hand — are the same traits you’d like to see in someone representing you at any level of government. In this case, Town of Chatham residents would be hard-pressed to find a more stalwart individual to represent them on their town board than Dan Horst.

Throughout much of my time as Chatham town supervisor, Dan Horst served as town assessor. Dan brought reliability, integrity, and a strong sense of duty to his town in his position. I never heard a single complaint regarding his performance from anyone, regardless of political leaning. Further, over time, those in the assessing business at the county and state levels were known to comment on the strength and fairness of the Town of Chatham’s assessment rolls.

There’s no question that the Town of Chatham would benefit from Dan Horst as a town councilman. He will stand for all town residents. I urge those voting on November 2 to cast a vote for Dan Horst.
