To the editor:
I am writing you with a loud and urgent plea.
Unlike ever before, the entire Hudson Valley is united against the Governor’s proposal to abolish the Bridge Authority and give our Hudson Valley bridges to the out-of-the-area and notoriously mismanaged Thruway Authority.
The Bridge Authority is local, employs local people, and immediately responds to our local needs on our local bridges.
They have kept our tolls affordable and kept our bridges in perfect and safe condition.
These low tolls and dependable crossings are the backbone to our Hudson Valley economy and we are completely dependent upon them.
I fear changes to, or mismanagement of our local bridges, will jeopardize the stability of our local economy.
This includes our community colleges, our healthcare and hospitals, and the entire local business community across eight counties.
Please fight for all of us in the Hudson Valley and please, don’t allow this to happen.
