To the editor:
I intend to vote for Patrick Nelson for State Senator of the 43rd district. He ticks every box for me. He is readily accessible and community-minded, and he has good ideas on solving problems worsened by the pandemic: guaranteed, quality health care for every New Yorker, good jobs, and the environment. Our communities are suffering and Patrick has the energy and tenacity to get things done in the New York State Senate.
On the other hand, I am aware that our current senator sent out a confusing mailer that says “Your Absentee Ballot Should Have Arrived.” That is incorrect information. You must apply for an absentee ballot. Only in Rensselaer County has the Board of Elections automatically mailed ballot applications to all voters. In Columbia County, the Democratic Committee used contributions to send ballot applications to Democratic voters. If you are able, please consider going in person to Early Vote which begins on October 24, or vote November 3 on Election Day. Otherwise, time is short and voters can apply for an absentee ballot online — no printer required: https://absenteeballot.elections.ny.gov/, and once you receive your ballot, mail it in as soon as possible or deliver it to your local Board of Elections.
Patrick Nelson is someone who will fight for us and provide timely and accurate information to his constituents. He is not afraid to debate his opponent and enjoys interacting with voters. He looks forward to a fair, just, thriving future for us all.
