Some businesses survive in a community for decades and never give back to the community. The ones that do are the ones who deserve our business and support!
Recently, the Coxsackie-Athens Teachers Association ran two fundraisers with the support of two such businesses. The owners at Red’s Restaurant, Kate and Joe Konopka, held a Dining Day special and donated 10% of the proceeds. McDonald’s manager, Tyler Stepper, hosted two McTeacher Nights where teachers came and “worked” at the restaurant while C-A families came and ordered and dined. One thousand dollars was donated by McDonald’s. All of the money raised goes to a fund created by the teachers called the Student Benefit Fund. This fund monetarily supports C-A families who have suffered a personal loss or who have extravagant medical bills. So when you’re out and about and looking for somewhere to have lunch or dinner, please consider the restaurants who so willingly give back to their community.
