To the editor:

It’s wonderful to see a community embarking on a new and exciting endeavor, and that was the reaction of many people to the incredibly successful inaugural “Jams in the Hamlet” concert in Hillsdale’s Hamlet Park on May 15. Hearty congratulations are due to Hillsdale Hamlet Committee members Jason Durant and Garrin Benfield, the producers, and their impressive crew of volunteers. Nearly 300 people enjoyed two hours of the Sleepy Hollow String Band’s excellent bluegrass for free on a balmy May evening. Locally made barbecue from Momma Lo’s and local drinks from Little Apple Cidery and Roe Jan Brewing Co. enhanced the event, primarily sponsored by Sylvan Motor Lodge, which is coming soon to Hillsdale. The next “Jams in the Hamlet” free concert will be June 19, featuring Hudson Festival Players performing classical chamber music from 5-7 p.m., with local food and drink available starting 4 p.m. in Hamlet Park.
