To the editor:

I want to clear the air about information published in the article “Audit faults school tech department” (April 13, 2021). It stated that the Hudson City School District did not renew its contract with Core BTS because “Core BTS did not implement the CPA audit’s recommendations.” This is not true and, unfortunately, we did not catch this misinformation in the State Comptroller’s report before it was finalized.

The factual reason why HCSD did not renew the Core BTS contract is because we never intended to use a service provider for more than one year. Additionally, Core BTS did not implement all the audit’s recommendations due to timing constraints, not because of a refusal or failure to try. It is unlikely that any service provider could have implemented all the recommendations within that time period. We have been and continue to be satisfied with the service provided by Core BTS.
