Monkeypox is a new disease that brings with it a set of old worries as the coronavirus reluctantly fades into the background.

The Biden administration declared a national state of health emergency last week as the number of monkeypox cases swelled to more than 6,600 people in the United States. U.S. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, D-N.Y., called last Wednesday for immediate action from the Biden administration to combat the disease in a press conference with disease experts.
