PRATTSVILLE — To our veterans, health care workers, first responders, essential workers and our neighbors, thank you for all you have done for us. It is appreciated and you are held in the highest esteem.

Accolades continue to be sent our way for Prattsville Military Honor Banners. Got a message from Paula Horan, the late Paul Cozzoli’s daughter. She was thrilled to see the banner honoring Paul’s service in the U.S. Army during WWII. He deserves this honor. Paula continues to maintain the family property and is in residence a great deal of the time. She is following in the footsteps of her dad by loving Prattsville, the Catskill Mountains and her neighbors. See you around Paula.

Also from Little West Kill, got to see the Rennells and guests at the Prattsville Mall on Memorial Day.

Congratulations to John and Jessica Young on the birth of their son Nolan James. Nolan was born May 31 and weighed in at 6 lbs. 4 oz. and measured 17+”. Nolan joins sister Adalyn who was born three years ago on May 1, the Youngs have May coming and going. Mom and baby are doing well and dad John doesn’t look sleepless at all. Best wishes to this family.

Heard from Michele Ferrauilo at the Stratton VAMC. Michele is the guardian angel of our veterans on the 9th Floor, Long Term Residents, who are the recipients of much of our donations to the VAMC. They are still in quarantine but there is some light on the horizon. They were able to have an inhouse luncheon with a family member and we have been put on the list for a visit/luncheon with them as soon as they get the “all clear” signal. Donations continue to come in from Mike and Chris Lucey of Tannersville, Legionnaire and Auxiliary member, UMC Thrift Shop, Kip Rikard, Bob and Ginny Gurley. Another delivery was made by Kip and Bob recently. Mike Fitzpatrick at Voluntary Services was pleased to have a supply of food and clothing and Jessica Hermance of Women’s Veterans Maternity Care Program was glad to accept the baby items for her program.

More breakout socializing with friends Lou and Fritzie Schmidt. The Traphagen Honey Farm opened Memorial Day weekend for the season and it was a busy weekend at the store. Fritzie and Lou are waiting for your visit with a promised mega year for the honey supply. Flavors mentioned were our favorites — Linden and Wildflower. But do not stop with honey, the shop has a plethora of other goodies — so great for hostess gifts, birthday presents and treats for yourself. Try them all. Daughter Kirstin is contemplating retirement from the U.S. Coast Guard. Her husband Shawn retired from the Coast Guard a number of years ago. Kirstin is currently based in West Virginia. We thank Kirstin and Shawn for their service.
