PRATTSVILLE — Have a safe and Happy St. Patrick’s Day. Wear the Green with pride and enjoy being Irish.

Must be the coronavirus concerns have kept people indoors and out of circulation. Not much news. Thank you to those who were absent from events due to their mild symptoms. It is better to err on the side of caution.

Saw and heard the bluebirds and the redwing blackbirds have been in attendance for some time now. A few robins have also been spotted.

Sympathy to family and friends of Helga Eisenlauer. Helga had been in an assisted living facility for some time but always preferred to be in her own home and community. Helga was very active and involved in all events in her active days. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.

The Greenville American Legion Post 291 is again sponsoring Field of Flags for display in May through the first week of July. The American flag can be flown in memory of a deceased veteran or in honor of a living veteran/active military. The cost of each flag is $25 and can be picked up at the end of the display period or donated back to the Post. You can contact them at American Legion Post 291, P.O. Box 132, Greenville, NY 12083 or FieldofFlagsPost291@gmail.com. It is truly an amazing sight to see all those American Flags blowing in the breeze and know that each one represents a true American hero.

Pat has Billy Howard finishing up their library, and he is doing this with a smile on his face and physical assistance. Pat is an avid reader of all genres and is gradually filling up the library in their home. What can replace a book that you can hold in your hands? Not an electronic gadget in our minds.

The American Legion Auxiliary Virgil E. Deyo Unit 1327 will again be sponsoring their Annual Easter Egg Hunt on April 11, at Young’s Ace Hardware. John Young and his mother Peggy so very generously offered their facility for the event as they have done in years past. And to add to the Easter Eggs, there will be cookies and ice cream, AND with weather permitting, outdoor refreshments as well donated by the Young family. How can you beat that for community caring and sharing? Thanks Peg and John. More on the designated time later when the arrangements have been solidified.

Eli Martin, dedicated worker at Young’s, is wished quick recovery after his recent surgery. Speedy recovery Eli.
