CGHS/SPCA was in the midst of planning for our 16th Annual Summer Paw Picnic when the COVID pandemic gripped our nation. Like all of you, CGHS/SPCA has been forced to adapt to an environment that isn’t conducive to having large numbers of people gather together, regardless of how worthwhile or special the occasion. Sadly, we had to make the difficult decision to cancel the Picnic, which was planned for Sept. 19.
As you may be aware, this annual event is our largest fundraiser of the year. While we are disappointed to not be spending a lovely afternoon with you in person at our picnic, we instead welcome you to “Shelter at Home” and join CGHS/SPCA in thought and spirit! As part of this safety-minded decision, we are holding a Shelter at Home raffle to help offset the financial loss from not hosting the Picnic this season. A kind and generous supporter has donated a fantastic prize to us for the specific purpose of our Shelter at Home raffle: a Weber Grill, deck cooler, $100 gift card for grilling items, and a basket of wine donated to us for the specific purpose of our Shelter at Home raffle.
Our organization, one of so many small businesses that is facing an historic financial crisis, could potentially experience a forty percent shortfall in funding. This deficit may have an adverse effect on our ability to serve the 5,000+ animals who come through our doors each year. The Shelter at Home raffle will help offset some of the financial losses due to cancelling our Picnic. We hope we can rely on you to take a chance on this incredible grill package and support our Humane Society in one of our most crucial times of need.
Our Shelter at Home raffle is an opportunity to celebrate CGHS/SPCA’s 65 years of caring for animals in need. Any donation that you would like to make in recognition and support of Shelter at Home Day is greatly appreciated.
Entries for the Shelter at Home raffle cost $1 each or 100 for $50, and may be purchased in any quantity. To enter, you can mail a check to CGHS 2020 Raffle, 111 Humane Society Road, Hudson, NY, 12534, or drop it off directly to the shelter. You can also easily purchase entries on our website at www.cghs.org. Mailed raffle entries must be received by Saturday, September 12, 2020, to be considered eligible. All raffle entries will be verified and submitted into the raffle pool by Summer Paw Picnic Committee members. The winner will be drawn on Sept. 19, notified by telephone, and posted on our website and Facebook page. Good luck!
