William F. Allerton Sr., age 87, of Catskill, died Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at Greene Meadows in Catskill. William was born March 14, 1934 in Catskill, the son of the late Stanley and Alice (Bouchey) Allerton.
Bill served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was a long-time employee of IBM, Kingston and member of the Quarter Century Club prior to his retirement. He later worked for the Village of Catskill and Coxsackie-Athens Central Schools.
Bill was a member and Past-Commander of Sullivan-Teator VFW Post 770 in Catskill; and Catskill Elks Lodge -1341. Bill enjoyed his Tuesday Poker Nite with his pals. He was predeceased by his wife, Patricia Allerton; a son, Duane Allerton; a granddaughter, Trisha Allerton; and a brother, Robert Allerton.
Bill is survived by four children, Deborah L. (John) Russo, William F. (Joyce) Allerton Jr., Kevin J. Allerton and Keith S. Allerton; six grandchildren, Andrew Allerton, Angelina Allerton, Jeremy Allerton, Zachary Russo, Savanna Allerton, Abigail Allerton Junko; five great-grandchildren; long-time companion, Patricia Scott; a brother, Kenneth Allerton; and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call 2-6 PM Saturday at Traver & McCurry Funeral Home, 234 Jefferson Heights, Catskill. Interment at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Catskill will be at the convenience of the family
