Wayne Pierce

On Saturday, December 7, 2019, Wayne Pierce, loving husband, father, and grandfather passed away at his home surrounded by family and friends. Wayne was born on May 27, 1947 in Catskill, NY, to Jerome and Sylvia (Pedersen) Pierce. He spent his life on the mountaintop in Hunter and Tannersville, working as a self-employed electrician.

Wayne is survived by his wife Christie (Eignor) Pierce, his brother Jerry Pierce, his daughter, Carrie (Chris) Merlo, and Kim Vanucchi (Jim Wiltse), Jamie Vanucchi and Joseph Vanucchi, 5 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, several cousins and a nephew. Wayne was an ardent outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, camping, and hiking. He was famous for his ability to fix anything and for his exceptional grilling skills. He loved spending time with his beloved family and his many friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to Kaaterskill UM Church in Tannersville and Ulster Co. SPCA in Kingston. Friends may call at Aston Basagic Funeral Home in Hunter on Wednesday, Dec. 11 from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Funeral service will be held at the Kaaterskill UM Church in Tannersville at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, Dec. 12.
