Ronald Gaylord Jr.

Ronald Gaylord Jr., 67 of Elizaville passed away Friday January 20, 2023 in Albany, NY. Born July 4, 1955 in Hudson, NY, he is the son of Ronald Sr. and Marguerite (Lyons) Gaylord.

Ronnie graduated from Hudson High School, and while attending school, he worked with his father in their family business Surge Milking equipment. His career path led him to the City of Hudson Department of Public Works, where he retired as a foreman after 37 years of service. Ronnie loved the City of Hudson and all the friends he met while living here. He was very friendly and social, and loved to converse with anyone who would enjoy his company. Aside from his adoring family, weather was Ronnie’s top priority. He always had a weather report on (especially from November through March) in constant preparation for the next City of Hudson snow removal task. Ronnie was especially proud of his Green John Deere tractor, and his Harley Road King, both of which he meticulously maintained and was always improving and adding to his Harley. New additions to his Harley was some sort of a friendly competition amongst other bike owners. He also enjoyed, and was proud of his renovations in the family homestead of which he and Barbara lived. Ronnie was a social member of C.H. Evans Hook and Ladder, and was a member of Hudson Elks -787. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. Other joys of Ronnie’s were hunting in his younger days, and more recently camping up and down the east coast, especially favoring Maine and Pennsylvania. Enjoying nature and watching weather develop over the Taghkanic Mountains also gave Ronnie much comfort.

Ron will be forever loved by his wife Barbara (Young) Gaylord, his two sons and daughters in law Ronnie (Ashley Snow) Gaylord III, and William P. (Morgan Colarusso) Gaylord, grandchildren, Ainslee, Liam, Colton, and Parker, siblings Mark (Lisa) Gaylord, Brian (Kim) Gaylord, Kevin (Evelyn) Gaylord and Kim (Paul Kisselbrack) Gaylord, along with his aunt Betsy Lyons and several nieces and nephews. Ron was predeceased by his parents Ronald and Marguerite, and his uncle Wally.

Funeral services will be Tuesday January 24, 2023 at 5:00 from the Bates & Anderson-Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home. Visitation prior to funeral prayers will be from 2:00-5:00pm. Contributions in memory of Ronnie may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
