Robert C. “Bob” Donahue, Sr.


Robert C. “Bob” Donahue, Sr., age 89 years, of Cairo, N.Y. passed away on March 28, 2021, at Greene Meadows Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center, Catskill, N.Y.

He was born on January 3, 1932, in Manhasset, N.Y. and is the son of the late Charles and Ida Donahue.

Besides his parents, Robert is predeceased by his sons Robert C. Donahue, Jr. (Connie), Michael J. Donahue, Sr., Jeffrey P. Donahue and also his son George and daughter Deborah from his former marriage.

Survivors include his loving wife Harriet (Thomsen) Donahue of Cairo – they were married on April 22, 1962, sharing 58 years of marriage. Bob is also survived by his daughter Allyson (Dan) Rippel, son Charles Donahue and his wife Lisa of Cairo, his son Robert of Waterford from his former marriage. He is also survived by his sister- in- law Pat Amoroso of Cairo and brother -in -law Harry Thomsen of Florida. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, including his very special grandson Michael Donahue, seven great grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and friends.

During his lifetime, Robert was a life member of Cairo Hose Company, and would be a member for 65 years in July of this year. Prior to Cairo Hose Company, Bob served as a firefighter for seven years in Garden City Park, L.I., N.Y. Bob loved bowling and scratch offs, also he enjoyed doing puzzles and had a wonderful bobble head collection. He always enjoyed smoking a cigar in his younger years.

Memorial services in memory of Bob will be held on Saturday, April 3, 2021, at 1:00 P.M. at his home.
