Patricia Steinhauer

Patricia Steinhauer, age 85 years of Cairo, N.Y. passed away on February 11, 2020, at Columbia Memorial Hospital, Hudson, N.Y.

She was born on July 13, 1934, in Staten Island, N.Y. and is the daughter of the late Thomas and Margaret (Shaw) McAndrew. Besides her parents, Patricia is predeceased her twin on the day that they were born, by her husband Eugene Steinhauer (whom she married at the age of eighteen) and her son Eugene Steinhauer, Jr., who passed away on October 21, 2018, her two brothers Thomas and George McAndrew and her two sisters Anne LaForte and Mary Pirano. Survivors include her three children Debbie Benson, Doreen Steinhauer and Jodi Chaves ,12 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren, and many friends and neighbors.

During Pat’s lifetime, she was employed with the custodial staff at Public School - 52 in Staten Island for the Board of Education for 28 years until her retirement in 1990 when she and her husband Gene retired where he worked for 37 years ,both retiring the same day.

Pat belonged to the following organizations The Ladies Ancient Order Of Hibernians since 1996, The LAOH for 9 years serving as president, Greenville Irish American Club, Ladies Auxiliary of The Knights of Columbus and also Eucharistic Minister for Sacred Heart Church in Cairo, she administered communion to the nursing homes and the homebound since 2005. Pat had so many friends and loved each and every one of them, she loved all of the priests that she knew, and her church, but most of all she loved her family.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend calling hours at Richards Funeral Home, 29 Bross Street, Cairo, N.Y. on Sunday, February 16, 2020 from 4:00P.M. – 7:00 P.M. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, February 17, 2020, at 11:00 A.M. at Sacred heart Church, Cairo, with Fr. Flannery, The Celebrant. Interment will follow in the family plot of The St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Catskill, N.Y. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to The Greene County Women’s League, P.O.
