Nancy L. Lagas


Nancy L. Lagas (nee Schwab) died unexpectedly on December 29, 2020 in Albany, N.Y., at the age of 86.

Nancy is survived by her daughters, Debra Lagas (Bob Helwig) of East Greenbush, N.Y. and Doreen Bishop (Scott) of Schenectady, NY.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Louis H. Lagas, sisters Evelyn, BettyJane, MaryJane, her brothers Thomas and Harry.

Nancy was born on July 10, 1934 in Wilkes-Barre, PA to Russell land Mary Schwab.

Nancy graduated from Coxsackie-Athens Central. Nancy loved family get togethers, gardening, art and crosswords. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great- grandmother. Nancy was proud of her four grandchildren Krista (Richard) Hillicoss, Chad (Jacqueline) Ferraro, Keri Bishop and Schuyler (Patrick) Ryan and also her great grandchildren Derek, Andrew and Alyssa Hillicoss, Natalie and Thomas Ferraro and Cameron and Hudson Ryan. Nancy will no doubt be watching and guiding them from above.

Nancy was an active member of Country Gardeners, the Jaycees, C-A Booster Club, she was a Brownie and Girl Scout leader, also she worked on the local election board for numerous years.

Services will be held at the discretion of the family.

The family would like to add a special thanks to the first responders and Sleepy Hollow Security for all their extra effort and care. Nancy’s family apologizes to anyone who they may have neglected to mention.
