Michael John Cleary

Michael John Cleary passed away in West Valley, New York on Saturday, September 17, 2022. Born on April 8, 1956, in Amityville, New York, Michael spent many years in California before returning to the East Coast in 1993. He was a dog lover, motorcyclist, sportsman, and an avid businessman with several successful retail ventures throughout his life, ranging from athletic shoes to mattresses. A beloved father, brother, friend, and community member, Michael spent the last few years of his life in the Salamanca, New York area enjoying the beauty of the Central New York region, and traveling with his friends and loved ones.

Mike is survived by his siblings, Frank, Steven, and Joan Cleary, his two sons, Christopher and Cameron Cleary, daughter-in-law Heather Cleary, cherished nieces and nephews, best friend Rob Gerstenzang, and Sugar, a very friendly Rottweiler and recent addition to Mike’s family. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Anne and Frank Cleary, and his dear siblings Peggy, Robert, and Jean Cleary.

The memorial honoring Michael will be held at O’Rourke and O’Rourke Funeral Home, 25 River Street Salamanca, New York, on Tuesday, September 27, 2022. The visitation will be from 4-6PM, at which time a service will be held.
