Margaret M. (Pfleger) Story

Margaret M. (Pfleger) Story, age 100 years, just two days shy of celebrating her 101st birthday, area resident of Cairo since the age of four, passed away on September 30, 2020, at her home. She was born in N.Y.C., N.Y., on October 2, 1919, and is the daughter of the late Leo Pfleger who passed away in 1967, and Clara (Hamann) Pfleger who passed away in 1991.

Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her loving husband Albert (Al) Story in 1979, by her brother Leo in 1999, by her sister in law Dorothy Pfleger who is the mother of her niece Lynda and her nephew Gary in 1967, she is also predeceased by her stepfather William Smith in 1974.

Survivors include her niece Lynda and her husband Robert Novak of Valatie, N.Y., nephew Gary and his wife Rita of Malverne, LI, grandniece Dorothy and grandnephew Jonathan Pfleger, children of Gary and Rita, and also her sister in law Caroline Pfleger of Round Top, N.Y. Margaret is a graduate of Cairo Central School, Class of 1939. She was employed by New York Telephone Company in Cairo for seven years, and by The Catskill Game Farm for fifty years.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend calling hours at Richards Funeral Home, 29 Bross Street, Cairo, N.Y. on Tuesday, October 6, 2020 from 2:00 P.M. – 4:00 P.M. Funeral services will take place the same day at 3:30 P.M. at the funeral home, with Pastor Rick Snowden of The Community Life Church, in Catskill, N.Y. officiating. Interment will follow in the family plot of The Cairo Cemetery, next to her late husband.
