Margaret Schmidt


Margaret Ann Schmidt, age 55, of Athens died Thursday, November 5, 2020 at Albany Medical Center Hospital. Margaret was born August 11, 1965 in New York City. She grew up in the Kiskatom area and was a graduate of Catskill Central Schools, Class of 1983. Margaret was an employee of Coxsackie-Athens Central School District and Lowes in Catskill.

Margaret never missed a school or sporting event with her children. Margaret was the Treasurer for the Athens Pool, and Adirondack Bluefins. She helped manage Bob Schmidt and Sons Roofing. Margaret was a stranger to no one and was the most caring and generous, wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend. Margaret was predeceased by her mother, Barbara Bonneau; a brother, Thomas Trochalides; and a sister, Dina Piscitelli.

Margaret is survived by her husband, Peter Schmidt of Athens; a son, Robert (Devon) Schmidt; a daughter, Kristin Schmidt; a grandson, Hudson Schmidt; two brothers, John Ponte and Joseph Bonneau; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may call 12-6 PM Sunday at Traver & McCurry Funeral Home, 234 Jefferson Heights, Catskill. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Monday at the funeral home. Reverend Michael P. Melanson will be officiating. Interment will be at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Catskill. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made the Leukemia Lymphoma Society; or make a blood donation at a blood drive being held in her honor 12-6 PM November 18th at the Zion Lutheran Church in Athens
