M. Rita Sciutto Laurella

M. Rita Sciutto Laurella, age 87 left her earthly life to be with her Savior, Jesus Christ, on December 14, 2020. Rita was loved by all who knew her and was a cherished wife, sister, mother, mother in law, grandmother, great grandmother, and aunt.

Rita believed that God hears us when we pray and she now is privileged to be part of His glorious kingdom. Knowing that, brings comfort to those who will miss her dearly. She never had a bad word to say about anyone and always looked for the best in people. Rita was a true lady through and through, fiercely independent, and a genuine beauty, not only outwardly but on the inside too. She had a gift of always having something positive to say to make anyone feel good about themselves.

Rita was born and spent many years of her life in Hudson, NY and eventually moved to Waterford, NY where she was employed by the Watervliet Arsenal until her retirement.

Rita was a self-taught, accomplished seamstress. No one could match her sewing skills! Also, an amazing cook and baker. Her family and friends looked forward to their Christmas delivery of rum balls and a variety of delicious cookies.

Rita was the daughter of the late Joseph and Constance Sciutto. Her husband, first love and father of her children, Ralph S. Laurella, predeceased her. She will be greatly missed by her daughter and best friend, Rita Laurella D’Onofrio (David Van Leuven), sons John Dubber (Nubia) Laurella, and Joseph (Beth) Laurella. Rita is also survived by granddaughter Bree Laurella and great grandson Nicholas Willette. Also left to mourn Rita, her brother Joseph (Connie) Sciutto.

Per Rita’s request there will be no calling hours. Please remember her as a colorful ray of light and celebrate Rita by

Rita was a gracious lady. She always brought a big smile, a lovely voice and a joy in her aura.

She could just about tackle anything that needed to be done within her home and life.

An exceptional woman of warmth and beauty which radiated about her and within her.

She will be missed by all that knew her at different times in her life.

The Creator surely must be smiling and saying, ahhh I received a great one.

Rest In Peace Rita.

My condolences to all family members.
