Linda Vogel Nolan

Linda Vogel Nolan of Catskill, NY passed away on February 26, 2020. She was born in Astoria, Queens, NY on July 19th,1955, a daughter of the late George and Jenny Costanza Vogel.

Linda would say her biggest accomplishment was being a loving mother to Vanessa O’Brien (died February 19, 2016) of Chicago, IL, Matthew (Krista) Nolan of Palmyra, NY and Richard (Joanna) Nolan of Charlotte, NC.

She was also a proud Grandmother (aka Nanny) to Zayvier Nolan (son of Richard), Johnny O’Brien (son of Vanessa) and Lana & George Nolan (children of Matthew). Linda left behind her longtime companion of 21 years, Timothy Severson. She is survived by her brother Richard (Charlene) Vogel, sisters Georgeann (Bruce) Pytel, Valerie (Paul) Caputo, and step-father Robert Schrock. She was an aunt to Gregory (Caitlin) Pytel, Kevin (Chelsea) Pytel, Deanna (Hunter) Caputo, Franchesca Caputo, and Nicole Caputo. She was a great Aunt to Mikaela Pytel.

Linda was a rural letter carrier for the United States Postal Service in Catskill for 20 years, she was well loved by both her customers and her co-workers. She retired in 2019. Linda was an accomplished seamstress, most notably making almost all of her own clothing, and taking on innumerable projects for those around her. The stuffed bunnies she made for her grandchildren will be cherished memories. She enjoyed music, playing the piano since childhood, and baking pastries, especially butter cookies for family parties. She held a firm belief in God, as well as a strong love for her country, family and friends. She was a generous, compassionate woman who valued hard work and individual responsibility. Linda was also an avid gardener, enjoyed bird watching and was a lover of all animals. She was known to feed chocolate cake to possums that were occasionally trapped in her basement, and has nursed more than one squirrel back to health after finding them injured on her property.

A celebration of Linda’s life will be held privately by the family at a later date. Memorial contributions can be made in Linda’s name to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Cremation arrangements by Millspaugh Camerato Funeral Home, Catskill. Messages of condolence may be made to
