Linda J (Klawson) Wyant

Linda J (Klawson) Wyant, 72, formerly of Germantown, NY passed away at the Northeast Center for Rehabilitation in Lake Katrine, NY on October 9th 2021. Linda was born in Johnson City, NY on May 17, 1949 to the late Hamilton Klawson and Jean (Tiffany) Klawson.

Linda lived in Johnson City & West Windsor, NY before moving to Columbia County in 1955. She attended Hudson grade school before moving to Germantown and completed her schooling at Germantown Central School. After graduation, she held a state job at Wassaic State School and a part time job at a local ice cream stand. Her next job was as an insurance agent assistant with Budd & Sipperly Insurance Company of Red Hook, NY. In 1975, with the birth of her first son, she retired to become a housewife and mother. After raising her own children, Linda babysat and offered child day-care for friends and families out of her own home, raising numerous children. Linda spent her free time volunteering as a member of the Livingston Memorial Church in Linlithgo NY, where she was an Elder and Deacon as well as a member of the Women’s Guild. Linda also volunteered her time at the Livingston Area Senior Community Center, assisting with elderly meals and nutrition.

She is survived by her husband Byron Jr. whom she married in 1972. Also survived by 3 sons, Christopher & partner Christine of Eagle Bridge NY, Michael & fiancee Samantha of Montara, CA, Daniel & wife Amanda of Taghkanic, NY, and grandson Christian of Atoka,TN. Linda is survived by 6 brothers, Gary of Germantown, Steve and wife Debbie of Rhinebeck, Brian of Rhinebeck, Ricky and wife Betty of Red Hook, Kevin and wife Margaret of Germantown and one sister, Deborah Klawson of NYC. Linda additionally is survived by many nieces and nephews, cousins and a few aunts and uncles. Linda was predeceased by her father Hamilton, mother Jean, and brothers Ronnie, Randy and nephew Scott.

Funeral services are to be held at the Joseph V. Leahy Funeral Home at 27 Smith Avenue, Kingston, NY. Visitation will be held on October 22, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Joseph V. Leahy Funeral Home. The funeral will be October 23, at 12:00 pm at the Joseph V. Leahy Funeral home. There will be a private service at the Viewmont Cemetery in Clermont, NY followed by a gathering to celebrate Linda’s life at the Livingston Memorial Church hall in Linlithgo, NY. Masks are required for anyone unvaccinated.

In lieu of flower donations, the family requests donations be made to a choice of the below charities/non-profit foundations in Linda’s honor: Livingston Area Senior Community Center, The Child Advocacy Center of Columbia and Greene Counties, Columbia County Humane Society.
