June Avis (Ecker) Fundler

June Avis (Ecker) Fundler, 94, of Palenville passed away on Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at her home.

June was born in Brooklyn on May 4, 1926, a daughter of the late Isidor and Anna B. (Wolin) Ecker. June’s childhood life was being raised in Manhattan. She married her childhood sweetheart, Stephen I. Fundler on December 2, 1948 in Arlington, VA for 64 years. Then, for 30 years, they lived in Paramus, NJ. In 1984 they moved to Toms River, NJ. There, her and her husband co-owned Pantry Products Health Food and Vitamin Store in Forked River, NJ until 2002. They retired and moved to Palenville.

June’s husband passed away November 25, 2012. June also worked at Bloomingdale’s and B. Altman dept. stores in the adjustment dept. in NYC and NJ. As June’s daughters grew up, she was very active as a Girl Scout leader. June lived for her family. The door was always opened for company. Once you arrived she was ready to feed you.

June was an exceptional artist, especially in water colors and oils. All her paintings are her legacies that will carry on. She was a fashionista who loved to shop. If she wasn’t drawing, she was in her flower garden. Roses were her favorite. She loved to sing phrases, writing poems, reading books, she even belonged to the Palenville Book of the Month Club. She loved swimming, knitting, Traveling on cruises or air was her forte. June was a people person, most definitely! She liked the finer things in life.

June was a loving mother to Wendy Aplass (William) of Vancouver, Washington; Jody Putman (Brett) of Palenville, NY and the late Robin Bloodgood of Forked River, NJ. Sister to Norma Cohen of Israel. Many nieces and nephews, including Ira Kerem, Susan Mulla (Nadji), Betty Marks, Mark Levi (Kelly) and many more. Grandmother to Peter Bloodgood, Kerry Moya (Ruben), Kristopher Espel, David Bloodgood, Raven Jablanski (Jared), Bryant Aplass (Beata), J.R. Steve Espel, Kacey Phillips (Mathew), Kenica Eggan (Bryon) and Laurie June (Adam); Great Grandmother of Alexandra Espel, Collin Bloodgood, Kiana Moya, Austin June, Kaden Moya, Jayden Jablanski, Keegan Bloodgood, JayCee Rae Jablanski, Chole June, Baylee Aplass, Jaelynn Jablanski and Ella Eggan.

Public calling hours will be conducted on Thursday from 4:00 – 6:30 pm at Millspaugh Camerato Funeral Home, 139 Jefferson Hgts., Catskill. A funeral service by Rabbi Zoe B. Zak and Stanley Webster and interment in Mt. Judah Cemetery, Ridgewood, Queens will be private. Messages of condolence may be made to
