John MacNiven, 85, of Leeds passed away on March 15, 2023.

He was born in Hurley, a son of the late John Charles and Edith Pilz MacNiven. John graduated from Saugerties High School, class of ’56. He married Therese E. Choquette on June 27, 1964. For many years he was a truck driver for M & G Trucking & Transportation, Selkirk.

A member of Lighthouse Church in Athens, NY. Over the past 30 years, John has been involved in over 10 mission trips to China, Mozambique and Israel spreading the Gospel through Bible distribution and using his carpentry skills in re-building efforts.

Husband of Therese E. MacNiven, father of Timothy MacNiven (Lucy) of Delanson, Diane Belle (Ron) of Manlius, Paul MacNiven of Leeds, Mark MacNiven (Helen) of Earlton, Daniel MacNiven of Rensselaer, Michael MacNiven (Stephanie) of Sacramento, CA and the late John Peter MacNiven; grandfather of Grace Cairo, Isabella MacNiven, Natalie MacNiven, Ronnie Belle and Amelia MacNiven, brother of Faith Sanders of Delanson, Grace Sutton of Sacramento, CA, Joy Becker (Frank) of Spring, TX, Patience Lund of Kingston and the late Ruth Irons and Susie Harrell; uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 12:00 – 2:00 pm at Millspaugh Camerato Funeral Home, 139 Jefferson Hgts., Catskill. At 2:00 pm a Funeral Service will be conducted.
