John J. Ray, age 56 years, of Cairo, N.Y., passed away on February 1, 2023, at Albany Medical Center, Albany, N.Y.
John was born on July 9, 1966, in Hornell, N.Y. and is the son of the late Robert Sr. and Sandra J. (Markham) Ray.
Besides his parents, John is predeceased by his very special aunt Loretta Markham, and his nephew Nick Winans.
Survivors include his daughter Alexa Ray, his stepson Jeremy Metzler, his siblings Bobby, Jr., and his wife Terri, Joe and his wife Coleen, Lisa Stubbs and Lynn Jones and her husband Tony, and his beloved Aunt Lulu Markham. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends of the community.
During John’s lifetime he was employed as a foreman for of 18 years for Asplundh, in Whitney Point, N.Y. He was also employed for I.U.P.A.T. Painters Union out of N.Y.C.
John enjoyed nature and loved boating and hunting. He was an avid NASCAR and Giants football fan. He was a member of The Catskill Yacht Club, Catskill, N.Y. He loved spending time with this family.
